The concept of the fold up house began in 2019.
Sandy first designed and built a half scale fold up house (pictured below) as a proof of concept. He then moved on to establish whether the logistics of fabrication of a full scale version would allow a successful fold up and fold down with cladding, wiring, plumbing, erected and folded back down to waist height using winches.
With resoundingly successful results on all fronts, Transformer Houses and Buildings Pty Ltd (trading as Fold Up Buildings) was established, April of 2023.

This is the half scale proof of concept Sandy built and like so many innovative ideas, this one started in a shed.

About Sandy
Sandy Crisp comes from a superfine wool growing background, has studied horticulture and agriculture and spent time building boats.
Boat building provides numerous ideas and solutions if this fold up house is located in environmentally sensitive landscapes.
Construction, building, creating solutions to architectural challenges is something that the Crisp family have been involved with for many decades now.
Sandy engineered the entire mechanism of the building in his mind first, which has since been proven by the structural engineers plaque (affixed to each completed building) that we see today.
